Out With The New In With The Old

Hi All, Sad news, due to family reasons, our drummer of the last four years; Jeff Walker, is to leave the band at the end of May. Taking his place on our contracted bookings for the foreseeable future is previous drummer, Bob Dickenson. Bob returns after a long lay off and then appearances with north Wales band The Stand Alone's. Bobs first gig will be at Ormskirk Golf Club on Monday 4th June. Drummer Pete Woodworth will be deputize on our next gig; Flixton Ex Servicemen's Club, in Manchester which is on Saturday 2nd June. Jeff leaves with our best wishes and gratitude for his valued contribution to Shooter; he will be missed.

Rockin' at The YPC

Hi All,What a FABULOUS Rockin' at The YPC Night at Ormskirk Civic Hall on Friday last. The Ormskirk Young Peoples Club (YPC) of old, gave many a new band their first stage including my first band Ian & The Rebels; last night Rockin' at the YPC' carried on that tradition, introducing, with a superb set and some fab guitar licks from front man John Hughes, new 60s band Route 66. A full house, a great crowd, witnessed tremendous performances from all on stage. Dune FM's Phil Roberts did his usual professional job holding it all together, guest artists; Jimmy Fox gave us some of his old magic, Ian Gregson carried on as he left off in the first show, knockin' 'em dead; Pip Saffer proved, after a fifteen year break, that when you've got it, it never leaves you, she bought the house down; Brilliant; Shooter were just Shooter, nothing more to say. Thanks to all who came along; without you we've got nothing. Fabtabulous night. Here's to the next Rockin' at The YPC (October date TBC, watch this space)

Rockin' at The Y.P.C. Returns

Hi All, Rockin' at The Y.P.C (The Re-Union For The Teenagers Of The 60's) returns to Ormskirk Civic Hall, Friday 11Th May 2012.
After the success of the first event in October last year, the demand for a second show has been so great that a date has been arranged for the follow up.
Featuring; Shooter & friends; Pip Saffer, original lead vocalist from our Legend of The 60s show; Jimmy Fox who was lead guitarist and vocalist with Ormskirk's own Adam & The Sinners then The Bluechips; the success of the first show; Ian Gregson, who together with Shooter's Keith Hubbard, was a member of Ian & The Rebels one of the resident bands at The Y.P.C. and introducing new band Route 66, the night promises to be every bit as good if not better than the first show.
Ormskirk Young Peoples Club; affectionately known as The Y. P. C. was situated in Burscough Street Ormskirk and was a major venue in the heady days of Mersey Beat. Playing host the top Liverpool groups as well as local bands such as Adam & The Sinners, The Bluechips and Ian & The Rebels, of which Shooter guitarist Keith Hubbard was a member, The Y.P.C. was a haven for the youth of the area. Liverpool impresario Dave Forshaw was the supplier of what was a tremendous line up of bands of the day.
The Y.P.C; which was situated in Burscough Street, shared the fate of the original Cavern Club and is now a car park.
Rockin' at The Y.P.C. returns by public demand to relive the atmosphere of this vibrant club.
For tickets, which are £8 in advance, please contact;
Ormskirk Tourism Office Tel; 01695 579062 or

Tuesday, 6 March 2012

Hi All, well into the first quarter of 2012; Keith and Mike have been busy with the AcoustiCats Shooter unplugged act with gigs at Lings on Kings Chinese Restaurant Southport and The Kicking Donkey Restaurant pub in Ormskirk. Shooter have had great gigs at Lamberhead Green WMC Wigan, Seacroft Holiday Park Hemsby Grt Yarmouth and another great night at Mold Ex-Servicemens Club in Wales. Nearly didn't make it, went to put diesel in the van late afternoon (yes we had taken out a second mortgage to pay for it) and the battery decided to die; all went dead. Luckily our friend at HighRoad Motor Spares in Churchtown Southport had the tools to release the rusted and seized battery holder and replace the old battery with new. It took him two hours but he got us back on the road and we made it to the gig just 20 minutes late. We got three encores; hows that?
Please see the new gig list for future events.
Keep on Rockin'
